The Bugatti EB218 was after the coupe Bugatti EB 118 , the second study, Bugatti Automobiles at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show presented. Giorgio Giugiaro from Italdesign created a four-door sedan , the shape of which should be reminiscent of the Bugattis of the 1930s.

The Bugatti EB 218 is powered by an eighteen-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection . Three rows - six cylinder banks were coupled in a W-shape; three of the 18 forged connecting rods have a common crank pin.

The engine develops a maximum output of 408 kW (555 hp) at 6800 rpm from a displacement of 6255 cm³ and delivers a maximum torque of 650 Nm.

In order to transfer the power delivery of this engine to the road, the EB 218 has all-wheel drive with an aluminum four-bar chassis. The automatic transmission has five gears.

The body spans an aluminum spaceframe structure and was intended, in particular, to evoke memories of the elegance of the Bugatti 57 SC Atlantic . With a wheelbase of 2710 mm, the vehicle is 4462 mm long, 1998 mm wide and 1240 mm high. The curb weight is given as 1888 kg.
