Since the announced 300 copies of the Bugatti Veyron should be delivered in the foreseeable future and the end of production was approaching, the 16C Galibier was intended as its successor. The historical model for the Bugatti 16C Galibier is the Bugatti 57C Galibier from the 1930s, named after a mountain pass in the French Alps, the Col du Galibier .
