Under Federal Police Live: Major Control at the Border , a live broadcast of an operation by the German Federal Police is shown on the television channels Kabel eins and Kabel eins Doku . It is a German adaptation of the US TV format Live PD , which has been published on A&E Network since 2016 .

An Austrian adaptation under the title Einsatz live has been broadcast on the ATV television channel since January 2019 .

In the two-hour program, a mission by the German Federal Police ( BPOL ) will be broadcast live on television for the first time. The operation or the major inspection, which is carried out at the German-Polish border with around 200 police officers, is filmed by several cameras from the Spiegel TV production company . Moderated on site and analyzed the adventure life presenter Tommy Scheel together with the federal police Frank Wittig as an expert is happening.

Production and broadcast

For the live broadcast, a be broadcast vans and a total of twelve cameras. Around 60 employees from production and editing are involved. In order to be able to protect the personal rights of those affected, the program is broadcast with a short time delay . So all people are asked beforehand whether they can be shown on television. Thanks to new software , which is being used for the first time on German television , the faces of people who have not given their consent are pixelated or blurred to make them unrecognizable . The transmission is also delayed to protect everyone involved.

The two-hour episode produced by Spiegel TV was broadcast on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 8:15 p.m. on the television channels Kabel eins and Kabel eins documentaries . If the production and broadcast are successful, further episodes should be realized.

Audience rating

The premiere on September 18, 2019 on Kabel Eins reached 0.90 million viewers. This corresponds to a market share of 3.3 percent. In the advertising-relevant target group of 14 to 49-year-olds, it achieved a market share of 6.1 percent for the station with 0.50 million viewers. (The channel's average annual market share in 2018 was 3.5 percent for the total audience and 5.0 percent for the target group.) A total of 109,000 viewers were reached on Kabel eins Doku. A market share of 0.6 percent was measured in the advertising-relevant target group.
