Buonas is a village in the municipality of Risch in the Swiss canton of Zug . Buonas belonged to the rule of Buona until 1798 . It has been part of the municipality of Risch since 1798 and was the main town of the municipality until 1986. Today Buonas is the second largest town in the municipality of Risch after Rotkreuz. On December 31, 2012, Buonas had 710 inhabitants.

The place

Buonas is located in the east of the municipality of Risch on the west bank of Lake Zug and originally consists of the Wildenmann tavern next to the ship station and the slightly higher-lying St. German chapel. In Buonas there is still the stately Lutigerhaus next to the chapel and the servants' house on the old country road to Cham and Freudenberg Castle , where the houses of three farms are lined up at increasing distances. The local museum of the municipality of Risch is located here. A new settlement was built above the former hamlet in 1960. Today the main road 368 runs through Buonas. The connection from the main road to the lake forms a small avenue. Buonas is on the Gotthard railway line , but does not have its own train station. The next, larger train station is in Rotkreuz .

The highlight of village life is the annual Buonaser Chilbi , which takes place every summer and was launched in 1968 by the Risch-Rotkreuz music society as a new source of finance.

history

Until 1798, the small hamlet with market rights on the shores of Lake Zug was under the rule of Buonas , which was ruled from Buonas Castle to the south . The drive from Buonas to the north of the castle peninsula, which was documented as early as 1327, was, alongside Cham and Immensee, one of the three official landing stages on Lake Zug and thus an important point on the Zug - Lucerne traffic route . The ferry taxes have been handed down for the year 1586. A hamlet ( Fahrmatt ) with an inn, other houses and the St. German chapel formed on the Fahrmatt . Gasthaus and Fahr were the fiefs of the judges of Buonas. In 1426 the place of justice, previously moved from the Rischer Church to Buonas. On his Swiss visitation trip, Cardinal Karl Borromeo boarded the ship on August 24, 1570 in Buonas to cross over to Zug.

With the proclamation of the Helvetic Republic in 1798, the rule of Buona, together with the Vogtei Gangolfswil, became today's political municipality of Risch , where the hamlet of Buonas received its own local rights. In the newly formed community, Buonas played the role of the center, since all community meetings were held here in the Gasthaus zum Wildenmann and the community chancellery was set up. The community chancellery remained in Buonas until 1959.

From the 1960s onwards, a new settlement developed east of the hamlet, which had been a village until then, which increased Buonas' population significantly. In the 1970s, construction of a new, linear city was rejected. The castle peninsula south of the village has belonged to F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG since 1997, which had a training and conference center built in the park in 2002.
