The ruins of Trmačov Castle ( Trmaczow ) are located just under a kilometer south of the village of Hluboké Dvory in the Okres Brno-venkov in the Czech Republic .

geography

Trmačov is located in the Žernovnická hrásüg ( Schernowitzer Horst ), part of the Boskowitz furrow , above the basin of a small stream on the edge of the Sobůtky forest. Surrounding villages are Hluboké Dvory in the north, Malá Lhota in the northeast, Újezd u Černé Hory in the southeast, Skalička and Všechovice in the south and Unín in the west.

history

Remains of the wall of the keep

Trmačov was first mentioned in writing in 1305 when Vladike Ondřej von Trmačov appeared as a witness in the will of Henry II of Liechtenstein and Nikolsburg . It is possible that the von Trmačov men were related by marriage to the Liechtenstein family. The castle was probably built at the transition from the 13th to the 14th century.

In 1371 Domaslav and Přešek von Trmačov sold the Trmačov castle and manor to Mikuláš von Trmačov. In 1407 Petr and Mikuláš von Trmačov sold the castle and the village of the same name to their brother Přešek. In 1417 Jan von Dlouhá was named as the owner of half of the property. The Trmačov family probably died out during the Hussite Wars . In 1437 Jan von Lomnice made his claims on Trmačov. Subsequently, the property was divided between the Lomnice, Černá Hora and Boskovice lords . The castle and the village perished in the 15th century during the Hussite Wars or during the Bohemian-Hungarian power struggles.

The castle has been described as desolate since 1466. In 1481 Jan Babka von Senice bequeathed the desert castle including Unín and a subject in Hluboké to Markvart von Lomnice. Later the walls were removed as building material by the residents of the surrounding villages.

investment

With its dimensions of 27 × 22 m, Trmačov is one of the smallest keep-type castles in Moravia. The castle researcher Miroslav Plaček classifies it as an intermediate stage between a castle and a fortress .

A drawing from 1860 shows a largely preserved keep . Today only remnants of the wall remain from the tower. Below the ruins lies the Trmačov desert by the Trmačovský creek. The ruin is protected as a national cultural monument.
