Burghard Schneider

Burghard Schneider (born December 28, 1944 in Breslau ) is a German political official (formerly SPD ) and an association functionary.

Schneider grew up in Marl ( Diepholz district ), in Bielefeld and in Cologne , where he passed his Abitur in 1966 . He then studied social sciences and law at the Ruhr University in Bochum and passed the first state examination in 1974 . From 1975 to 1980 he headed the academies for political education in Lage (Lippe) and Bergisch Gladbach .

From 1981 Schneider was press spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group in the state parliament of Saarland and the SPD Saar . In 1985 he also took over the position of managing director of the SPD parliamentary group in the Saarland state parliament. In February 1990 he was appointed State Secretary to the Ministry for the Environment (from 1994: Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Transport) of the Saarland . In September 1996, Prime Minister Oskar Lafontaine (SPD) appointed him State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery and European Commissioner for the Saarland state government. Schneider kept these positions under Lafontaine's successor Reinhard Klektiven (SPD). After the CDU won the elections for the 12th state parliament of Saarland on September 5, 1999, he resigned from the state service on September 29, 1999. His successor as head of the state chancellery was Karl Rauber (CDU).

After the change of government, Burghard Schneider became managing director for project development and real estate in a private company for senior services in Saarbrücken in autumn 1999 . At the same time he was the managing director of 1. FC Saarbrücken . From September 2000 to the end of 2009, Schneider was the association director and spokesman for the board of the Association of the Housing Industry VdW Rhineland Westphalia in Düsseldorf. From November 2006 to the end of 2010, he took on the same position at the Association of Saarland Housing and Real Estate Industry. V. - VdW saar in Saarbrücken. Today he works as a consultant for business and politics. He resigned from the SPD in 2012 because he did not agree with the state chairman Heiko Maas' decision to form a coalition with the CDU in the run-up to the 2012 state elections .

Burghard Schneider is married and has one son.
