Elmer Earl "Butch" Hartman IV (born January 10, 1965 in Highland Park , Michigan ) is an American animator , director , screenwriter , executive producer , storyboard artist and producer . He invented the cartoon series Cosmo and Wanda - When Elves Help , Danny Phantom , TUFF Puppy and Bunsen is a Beast .

childhood

Hartman grew up in Roseville , Michigan and grew up in New Baltimore, Michigan. In his youth he was nicknamed Butch , which he also used as an adult. He graduated from Anchor Bay High School in 1983, and later attended the California Institute of the Arts .

Early career

While at the California Institute of the Arts, Hartman got the chance to work as an animator on the film Feivel, the Mouse Wanderer. Upon graduation, he was hired as a character designer for the animated series My Little Pony . He later worked on the animated series Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog , Captain N and Gadget Boy . Hartman became, among other things, director and storyboard artist for several Hanna Barbera productions. These included Dexter's Laboratory , Cow and Chicken, and Johnny Bravo . After he had terminated his contract with Hanna-Barbera, Hartman produced the Oh Yeah! With Fred Seibert . -Cartoons. He designed the short film Zoomates with Seth MacFarlane . MacFarlane named a character from Family Guy , Dr. Elmer Hartman. Butch Hartman and his "Cosmo and Wanda" series also featured on Big Time Rush, but was played by another actor. After 20 years in the Nickelodeon studios (since Dec, 1997), Hartman left the studio. He stated the message and the reason for it on his YouTube channel on February 8, 2018.

Cosmo and Wanda - When Elves Help and Danny Phantom

Hartman's greatest success came in 1997 when he invented the animated series Cosmo and Wanda - When Elves Help (he came up with the idea while driving to the Nickelodeon studios with Fred Seibert ). It was originally a series of short TV films for the Oh Yeah! -Cartoons. The complete series was created in 2001. Besides SpongeBob SquarePants is one of Cosmo and Wanda 's most successful animated series in the world. Due to the success, Nickelodeon asked Hartman to develop another series. In 2004 Hartman designed the Danny Phantom series . In 2006 more episodes were produced by Cosmo and Wanda , the 7th season has been broadcast in the USA since February 18, 2008. The production of Danny Phantom ended on 24 August, 2007.

Other works

Hartman was also the screenwriter and executive producer of the cartoon Doogal . This aired on February 24, 2006 and grossed $ 7 million.

Private life

Hartman lives in Bell Canyon, California with his wife and two daughters (as of 2008).
