Cäcilie Bleeker born Kedenburg (born June 20, 1798 in Uetersen ; † May 18, 1888 ibid) was the first honorary citizen in Schleswig-Holstein and the city of Uetersen.

Life

Cäcilie Bleeker was born in Uetersen in 1798 as the daughter of a sawmill. In 1820 she married the merchant and papermaker Anton Georg Bleeker from Jever . Together they founded the "Bleeker Foundation" to build a hospital in Uetersen. After the death of Anton Georg Bleeker, this foundation was established by Ludwig Meyn , Michael Lienau , Ernst-Heinrich Meßtorff, Helmuth Karl Bernhard von Moltke and the doctor Dr. Jacob Lange supported him and in 1874 the hospital was opened. At that time it was one of the first hospitals in southern Schleswig-Holstein.

Cäcilie Bleeker was also the founder of numerous social institutions, such as a care facility and a girls' school. On June 20, 1879, she was made an honorary citizen and at the same time became the first honorary citizen in Schleswig-Holstein. She died of old age on May 18, 1888. The subsequent funeral became the largest of its kind in Schleswig-Holstein because of its charity . More than three thousand people said goodbye to her. The Uetersen hospital was named after her (Bleekerstift) and in 1999 a park in Uetersen was named in her honor ( Cäcilie-Bleeker-Park ).
