Célio Ferreira dos Santos (born July 20, 1987 in Paracatu , Minas Gerais ) is a Brazilian football player . He is also a citizen of East Timor .
Career
Célio started his career at u. a. AA Ponte Preta . Here he could not prevail decisively, so that he was loaned from 2008 and changed clubs in 2009 after a stopover, he went to China to Beijing Renhe that same year . Here he were no stakes and moved in 2010 to Portugal for Belenenses Lisbon , which in the 2010/11 season as a climber in the second division played. He played his first league game for the club on September 11, 2010 against FC Penafiel . In total, he appears for the club 17 league and two cup games.
After the season Célio was given back. He then usually only played one season at one club. His trip took him to Moldova . With FC Dacia Chișinău he played here a. a. two games in the first qualifying round for the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League before moving on to Ukraine , Iran and the United Arab Emirates . In 2016 he was back in Brazil for Avaí FC . On July 25, 2016, his move to South Korea to join Ulsan Hyundai was announced.
In February 2017, Célio went to Thailand for Muangthong United . The contract ended after two years at the end of the 2018 season. In August 2019 he signed a new contract with UD Vilafranquense in Portugal.
Citizenship of East Timor
In order to play for the national team of East Timor , he adopted the East Timorese nationality. The exact time is unknown. In addition to Célio, six other Brazilians did this, including Juninho . Only this has been used so far. The East Timor Football Association organized this in order to be competitive. The procedure caused displeasure among fans and competing associations.
