The Côte des Dunes is a ferry of the DFDS Seaways shipping company that was commissioned as Seafrance Rodin in 2001 and has been operating under this name on the Dover to Calais route since 2016 .
history
The Seafrance Rodin was launched on May 19, 2001 under hull number 437 in the Aker Finnyards (today Meyer Turku) shipyard in Rauma . The delivery to the shipping company SeaFrance took place on 13 November, the putting between Calais and Dover on 30 November 2006. The sister ship is the 2005 SeaFrance Berlioz , commissioned in Côte des Flandres .
In December 2006, the Seafrance Rodin had to briefly interrupt service due to a stay in the shipyard after a collision with the quay wall in Calais. Apart from other short stays in the shipyard, she was in service for SeaFrance on the same route for more than ten years. On November 16, 2011, the ship in Calais was launched after the shipping company became insolvent and a little later dissolved.
It was not until August 2012 that the ferry was able to resume service between Dover and Calais, now under the name Rodin for MyFerryLink . In June 2015, however, the ship was launched again after this shipping company had to file for bankruptcy. In November 2015, the Rodin therefore came into the possession of DFDS, was renamed Côte des Dunes in February 2016 and began operating for the shipping company on February 10, 2016. The ship was previously manned by striking employees of the former shipping company MyFerryLink.
