Charles Britton Hudson

Charles Britton "CB" Hudson III (born October 8, 1974 in Oklahoma City / Oklahoma ) is an American musician who has been playing guitar with Blue October since 2000 .

Life

Hudson grew up in Dallas and got his first guitar when he was ten. As a child, Hudson was a fan of MTV and enjoyed listening to heavy metal bands . His musical style was influenced by famous guitarists. These include Steve Vai , Stevie Ray Vaughan , Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson . Later the famous jazz guitarists Norman Brown and George Benson were among his influences. Hudson played in a jazz band when he attended Lake Highlands High School. Hudson later moved to San Marcos , where he attended Southwest Texas State University , where he graduated in 1999 with a degree in psychology . Shortly after earning a degree in psychology, Hudson decided to do his MBA , which he passed in the fall of 2000.

Career

In October 2000, Hudson met Justin Furstenfeld from Blue October at Cafe Kismet . Hudson recorded a demo a short time later and sent it to Furstenfeld. He was invited to audition by the band and was invited to a concert as lead guitarist. His first concert took place on December 9, 2000 in San Marcos. In the fall of 2000, Hudson passed his MBA and nine hours later he went on a Consent to Treatment tour . However, the CD Consent to Treatment did not sell well, whereupon Universal Records broke the contract with the band in 2002. The band then decided to continue the tour without a label. In 2003 he produced the album History for Sale . There his heavy metal influences were used in the song Somebody , which gave the band a new contract with Universal . Hudson wrote the music for the 2006 album Foiled . Hudson is currently planning his own jazz-related music project called Reflxblue .
