San Marcos is a city in central Texas . It is located between Austin to the north and San Antonio to the south on Interstate 35 in Hays County . The city is also the seat of the county administration ( County Seat ).
Science and Research
Texas State University , which shapes the city with over 20,000 students, is of central importance . Due to its proximity to Austin, many students commute to San Marcos because life in Austin is much more attractive.

Interstate 35 runs through San Marcos . At their junctions to Hopkins Street ( Texas State Highway 80 ) and Aquarena Springs Drive ( Loop 82 ) , the intersections of the feeder roads and the turning ramps common at junctions in Texas have been converted into continuous-flow intersections since 2015 . This combination of the two types of traffic nodes is the first in the USA.
