Club Baloncesto Avenida , also known under the sponsor name Perfumerías Avenida , is a Spanish women's basketball club from Salamanca . The first team plays in the Liga Femenina de Baloncesto . The home games are played in Pabellón Würzburg with a capacity of 2,400 .

history

CB Avenida was founded in 1988 as the women's basketball section of the university sports club AD Universidad de Salamanca . As such, in 1992 they were promoted to the first division , from which the team has not been relegated since. In 1994 the first team established itself as an independent association under a new main sponsor, the travel agency Halcón Viajes . The first successes were not long in coming, for the 1995/96 season the club was active on the international stage for the first time and reached the quarter-finals in the Ronchetti Cup . The domestic league finished in second place behind the then dominant club of Spanish women's basketball, Bàsquet Godella Valencia . In 1998/99 the team finished the league again as runners-up and in 2000/01 the club reached the final of the Spanish Cup for the first time , but failed there 64:66 at Real Club Celta Indepo . The star of the team at that time was Amaya Valdemoro .

In 2002 Perfumerías Avenida became the new main sponsor and the name of the club changed to CB Avenida. The first title success came in the Spanish Cup in 2005 with a 74:68 win in the final against Mann Filter Zaragoza . Only a year later, the Castilians won the double of the championship and the cup and also reached the semi-finals of the EuroCup Women , where they failed at the eventual tournament winner Spartak Oblast Moscow . From 2006 to 2010, the team landed in second place in the championship and failed four times in a row in the final to Ros Casares Valencia, in the Euroleague Women 2008/09 Perfumerías Avenida also reached the final, but lost there 70:85 Spartak Moscow Oblast . The greatest success in club history so far followed in the 2010/11 season. In addition to winning the second league title with a 2-0 playoff against Ros Casares, Perfumerías Avenida, led by their star players Alba Torrens and Sancho Lyttle , crowned the season with a 68:59 triumph in the final of the Euroleague Women against Spartak Oblast Moscow and as the second Spanish club to win the most important European trophy after Dorna Godella . In the final of the FIBA Europe SuperCup Women , CB Avenida won 95:72 against Elitzur Ramla and won her second international cup. Since then, the club has been able to add another Spanish championship title to its collection of titles in the 2012/13 season and two cup wins in 2012 and 2014.
