Caetano da Anunciação Brandão TOR (born September 11, 1740 in Quinta do Limoeiro (municipality of Loureiro ), Portugal ; † December 15, 1805 in Braga ) was a Portuguese religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Braga .

Life

Caetano da Anunciação Brandão joined the order of the Regular Franciscan Terziaren in the Colégio São Pedro da Terceira Ordem da Penitência in Coimbra and made his profession on November 28, 1759 . After studying Catholic theology at the University of Coimbra Brandão was born on March 17 1764 for a deacon ordained and received on 22 September of the same year, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 8, 1782, Queen Maria I of Portugal appointed him Bishop of Belém do Pará . After Pope Pius VI. on December 16 of the same year had confirmed his appointment, the Archbishop of Goa , Francisco da Assunção e Brito OESA , donated him episcopal ordination on February 2, 1783 ; Co- consecrators were the emeritus Bishop of Mariana , Bartolomeu Manoel Mendes dos Reis , and the Bishop of Macau , Alexandre da Silva Pedrosa Guimarães .

On November 20, 1789, Queen Maria I appointed him Archbishop of Braga and Pius VI. confirmed this appointment on March 29, 1790. The inauguration took place on June 28 of the same year.
