The Dillighaus café in Scheßlitz , a town in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg ( Bavaria ), was built in 1692. The half-timbered house at Hauptstrasse 33 is a protected architectural monument .

history

The former guild house of the Büttner and brewers was built for the carpenter and Wagner Georg Ehrnbeich († 1720) and came into the possession of the Dillig family in 1847. Today it houses a Greek restaurant under the name Restaurant Athene. The builder erected the building with the help of the carpenter Jörg Hofmann from Zeil am Main , who immortalized himself on the sill beam with IHZ 1692 VZ (Jörg Hofmann Zimmermeister von Zeil).

architecture

The representative two-story house has a stone ground floor and an upper floor in half-timbered construction. The central bay window is covered with an onion hood and crowned by a roof pommel. The arched driveway opens up the outbuildings and farm buildings in the courtyard. The upper floor with seven window axes is decorated with an unusually rich decorative framework. The corner posts have intricately crafted winding three-quarter columns with men's heads. The other stands show busted half-columns with Corinthian capitals . Grimaces are depicted on the parapet and fruit wreaths above the gate. On the right outside the last window in a niche is a sculpture of St. Lawrence , the patron saint of brewers, cooks and innkeepers.
