Calystegia occidentalis is a plant species from the genus of the bindweed ( Calystegia ) fromthe wind family (Convolvulaceae). The species is endemic to the United States .

description

Calystegia occidentalis is a finely downy-haired to finely tomentose, perennial plant that forms a woody caudex as a perennial organ. The stems are prostrate to strongly climbing. The leaf blade usually has a length of 1.5 to 4 cm and is more or less conspicuously lobed. The lobes are rounded to two-pointed, they form a round to more or less rectangular or pointed arch.

The inflorescences are one to four flowered and are smaller or slightly longer than the accompanying leaves. The prophylls are 5 to 12 mm long, linear to almost round, sessile or stalked, with entire margins or lobed like the leaves. They start 1 to 15 mm below the calyx , mostly they overlap it without enclosing it. The sepals are 9 to 15 mm long, the crown is white to creamy-yellow and 20 to 24 mm long.

The species is endemic to California and Oregon , where it grows on dry slopes, in chaparral and in pine forests. It can be found at altitudes between 300 and 2700 m.
