Cameron (original title English Cameron's Closet ) is an American horror film from 1988 .

action

Ten year old Cameron Lansing has psychokinetic skills. He lives with his father Owen and is used as a guinea pig for parapsychological experiments.

One day Cameron finds a Maya figure, which he classifies as a harmless toy. While playing with this character, he awakens an evil demon who uses the boy as a medium and lives in Cameron's closet for the time being. Cameron's father notes that he and his partner, Ben Majors, have gone too far in the experiments and want to put an end to the "haunted" situation. He is cruelly killed.

Cameron moves in with his mother and her boyfriend Bob, who bullies Cameron. When Bob, annoyed by Cameron's conversations with the creature in the closet, looks into it, his eyes are burned, he is thrown out of the window and dies. The police and the psychologist Nora Haley are now involved.

criticism

The lexicon of international films judged the production to be a “[t] thematically naive”, but “tightly staged horror film”. However, in the course of the film, “the inner density” is more and more “externalized in favor of relevant effects”.
