Camille Coduri (born April 18, 1965 in Wandsworth , England ) is a British actress . She had her greatest success in the British science fiction cult series Doctor Who , in which she played the role of Jackie Tyler from 2005 to 2006 and again in 2008 and 2010 .

biography

Coduri was born in Wandsworth, south London, where she grew up. She attended Holy Trinity Primary School in Tooting and Upper Tooting High School. There she appeared for the first time in a play. After school she trained as an actor at Kingsway Princeton College in King's Cross and in 1981 joined the Lyric Youth Theater, a youth theater in London's West End . There she was discovered by a casting director who helped her get her first film role in the American action film On the Wings of Death .

In 1987, her first television role followed in the British drama television series Boon . In 1990 she played Faith in Nuns on the Run alongside Eric Idle and Robbie Coltrane . In 1991 she played the leading female role in the comedy film King Ralph at the side of John Goodman . Numerous appearances in various British television series and films followed.

In 2005 and 2006 she played a supporting role in the re-launched cult television series Doctor Who . There she played Jackie Tyler , mother of the main character Rose (played by Billie Piper ). In 2008, she reappeared as Jackie Tyler in the series' fourth season, followed by a brief appearance in the final episode of starring David Tennant in December 2009.

After the end of the second Doctor Who season she starred in the drama Pickles: The Dog Who Won the World Cup and the film The Business . In 2006 she played the role of a porn producer in the six-part BBC production Sinchronicity .

In 2010 she starred in an episode of the BBC series Ashes to Ashes - Back to the 80s on the side of Philip Glenister and Keeley Hawes . Also in 2010, she was seen in the episode Inspector Barnaby - Below the Belt .

Private life

Coduri has been married to actor Christopher Fulford since 1992 and has two children with him.
