Camille Rast (born July 9, 1999 in Vétroz ) is a Swiss ski racer . She is part of the Swiss-Ski C-team and specializes in the giant slalom and slalom disciplines.

biography

Rast learned to ski before her second birthday and started racing at the age of five. In November 2015, at the age of 16, she competed in FIS races for the first time . After several good results, appearances in the European Cup followed just two months later . She finished in the points for the first time on January 7, 2016 at the European Cup Slalom in Zinal . A week later she achieved her first victory in an FIS race. At the beginning of the following season, at the age of 17, Rast received a line-up for the World Cup giant slalom in Sölden on October 22, 2016: With start number 60, she narrowly missed qualifying for the second round in her World Cup premiere as 32nd. On December 8th, 2016, she achieved her first European Cup podium finish with third place in the giant slalom in Kvitfjell . At their fifth World Cup race, the giant slalom in Kronplatz on January 24, 2017, Rast surprisingly finished 9th and thus won World Cup points for the first time.

In the Junior World Championship 2017 in Åre won snap the gold medal in the slalom at the Junior World Championship 2018 in Davos the gold medal in the team competition . She was unable to contest a large part of the 2017/18 season because she had suffered from glandular fever the previous summer and had to take a longer break from training. In the 2018/19 season, Rast was able to build on her old successes; she finished second in giant slalom at the 2019 Junior World Championships in Val di Fassa . At the Swiss Championships at the end of the season, she celebrated the giant slalom championship title ahead of Wendy Holdener . The next day she fell just before the finish line of the slalom, tore a cruciate ligament and injured her meniscus. Surgical intervention should only take place after a long period of rehabilitation.
