Caraga is a metropolitan municipality in the Davao Oriental Province and is located on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines . It has 40,379 inhabitants (August 1, 2015 census) who live in 17 barangays . It belongs to the first income bracket of the communities in the Philippines, but is considered a more rural community.
The municipality of Caraga is located on the east coast of the island of Mindanao approx. 84 km north of the provincial capital Mati City , 254 east of Davao City and can be reached from there via the coastal road. The community covers an area of 642.89 km² and the terrain is very mountainous except for the coastal strip.
