Carl Anton Schott (born August 1, 1826 in Mannheim , † July 31, 1901 in Washington, DC ) was a German-American scientist.

Carl Anton Schott completed his engineering studies at the Polytechnic School in Karlsruhe in 1847 . The following year he traveled to the United States and worked for the local land surveying authority . In 1853, Schott received American citizenship. In 1856 he was promoted to assistant. Schott was part of the government delegation, 1869, the August eclipse in Springfield (Illinois) , and December 1870, the solar eclipse in Cantana ( Sicily observed).

In 1898 Schott was a member of the International Conference on Geomagnetism in Bristol ( England ). He was a member of numerous scholarly societies , including the National Academy of Sciences , the Washington Academy of Sciences , and the American Association for the Advancement of Science . He was the author of scientific publications in the fields of hydrography , geodesy , tides , meteorology , and geophysics for the Smithsonian Institute . The Académie française honored Schott with its highest honor - a medal for his research in the field of geomagnetism .
