Carl Buzengeiger

Carl Heribert Ignatz Buzengeiger (also Karl Heribert Ignatius , often just Carl or Karl Buzengeiger ; born March 16, 1771 in Tübingen , † September 7, 1835 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German mathematician , mineralogist and university professor .

Life

Buzengeiger attended the Tübingen Latin School and then studied philosophy , natural sciences and mathematics at the University of Tübingen . At the university he was considered a popular student of the mathematician Christoph Friedrich von Pfleiderer . After completing his studies, he gave private lessons in Tübingen, Stuttgart and Berlin . After a teaching position in mathematics in Nuremberg , he followed a call in 1798 as a professor of mathematics at the Ansbacher Gymnasium . During this time his first publications were made in professional journals and textbooks.

On the recommendation of the mathematician Johann Gottlieb Friedrich von Bohnenberger, Buzengeiger was appointed full professor of mathematics and, from 1825, mineralogy at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . In Baden he was also appointed councilor .

The watchmaker and mechanic Johann Wilhelm Gottlob Buzengeiger was his brother.
