Carl Christoph Goebel
Carl Christoph Traugott Friedemann Göbel , also Karl and Goebel or C (K) arl Christian (* 21st February 1794 in Niederroßla near Weimar, † May 27 . Jul / 8. June 1851 greg. In Tartu in Estonia) was a German - Baltic chemist and botanist . His author abbreviation is Goebel .
Life
Göbel trained as a pharmacist in Eisenach from 1809 , studied pharmacy in Jena from 1813 and later took over the university pharmacy there. He took part in the Wartburg Festival of 1817 . Dr. phil. In 1825 he received a professorship in Jena and founded a pharmaceutical institute there. In 1828 he took up a professorship in Dorpat , where he founded the first Pharmaceutical Institute in Russia in 1844. He developed new ways of thinking in the field of chemical diagnostic medicine. In 1838 he was appointed to the Russian State Council.
Honors
After Goebel, the genus Goebelia became Bunge ex Boiss. named from the legume family (Fabaceae).
