Carl Elsasser
Carl Elsasser (born June 29, 1822 in Herzogenrath ; † March 17, 1911 in Rixdorf ) was a German local politician, department director in the Reich Post Office and member of the Imperial Patent Office .

Elsasser studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . After various stations, Elsasser finally became the Real and Secret Upper Government Council in Berlin. In this position, he served as senior director a resort in Reichspostamt. In 1888 he became an honorary member of the Göttingen Wingolf . In addition to his work in the Reich Post Office, he was a member of the Imperial Patent Office, which had been in Berlin-Kreuzberg since 1905, until his death .
Carl Elsasser died in his house at Hasenheide 12, which he had lived in with his family since the 1850s. He was buried in the St. Simeon and St. Luke cemetery.
Political activity
Elsasser did a great job in local politics in what was then the town of Rixdorf, which was renamed Neukölln a year after his death in 1912. His outstanding commitment to welfare was also expressed in the fact that, as a result of his work, the Protestant churchyard of Sankt Simeon and Sankt Lukas was founded in 1897 at Tempelhofer Weg 9 in Neukölln , where he was also buried.
In his honor, Carl-Elsasser-Straße was built in Neukölln, the spelling of which was changed to Karl-Elsasser-Straße in 1932 .
