Carl Gotthard von Liphart also Liphardt (* March 1, 1778 , † December 22, 1853 ) was a Russian guard and Livonian land marshal .

Life

Origin and family

Carl Gotthard von Liphardt was a member of the Baltic noble family von Liphart . His parents were the Livonian district administrator Reinhold von Liphart (1750-1829) and Sophia, née Countess von Stackelberg (1758-1826).

His first marriage was in 1800 with Anna (Annette) Freiin von Loewenwolde from the house of Rappin (1783-1831). In his second marriage he married Adele, née Laurent, widowed Marechaux des Entelles. Both marriages resulted in a total of 18 children, including:

  • Gotthard (1804–1885), district administrator
  • Sophie (1807–1893) ⚭ Ferdinand David (1810–1873), violin virtuoso and composer
  • Karl Eduard (1808–1891), Livonian baron, physician, natural scientist, art historian and collector
  • Annette (1821–1902) ⚭ Clemens von Weiß († 1895), Russian major general

Career and work

Carl Gotthard von Liphardt had visited the “ École militaire ” of Gottlieb Konrad Pfeffel in Colmar , where he was influenced by the liberal spirit of the French Enlightenment . During his career in the Imperial Russian Army , he advanced to a Rittmeister of the Guard . He was District Deputy in 1829 and from 1833 to 1836 he was Land Marshal of the Livonian Knighthood .

Liphardt lived on his Alt-Kusthof estate until 1839 . He was still in possession of all Livonian estates Rojel, Marrama, Terrestfer, Toikfer, Condo, until 1840 Saarjerw and from 1837 Torma.

His 1829 together with Schloss Neuhausen to primogeniture collected Castle Ratshof whose Gutspark he by Peter Joseph Lenne had it remodeled and whose gallery he expand through the acquisition of numerous works of art, he had become a social gathering place for the residents formed Dorpats developed.
