Carl Kaeser (born April 14, 1914 in Munich ; † July 8, 2009 ) was a German mechanical engineer and family entrepreneur and head of the mechanical engineering company Kaeser Kompressoren for decades .

Live and act

Carl Kaeser was born as the son of Carl Kaeser senior in Munich in 1914. In 1917 his parents moved with him to Coburg . In 1919 his father founded his own mechanical engineering workshop with 20 employees in Coburg.

Son Carl Kaeser showed an interest in descriptive geometry at school and built a fully functional compressor model at the age of 17 . In 1933 he graduated from school with a high school diploma . He then studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich and graduated after eight semesters in 1937 as a graduate engineer. In the same year he joined the family business. After the end of the war, the family company was confronted with the breakdown of customer relationships with the toy and glass industries in Thuringia and Saxony as a result of the division of Germany.

In the course of the challenge of realigning the company, the existing know-how in engine construction was used to build compressors from now on. Carl Kaeser took over the management of the family business in 1963. By exploring the market in the USA, he recognized the future importance of the screw compressor with a new compression principle. In the early 1970s, he was responsible for expanding the range to include screw compressors with the screw rotor profile ("Sigma profile") developed in-house.

In 1980 his son Thomas Kaeser joined the company management. The company Kaeser expanded strongly cheesemaker line, counting 2008, nearly 4,000 employees. In 2004 Carl Kaeser opened a new research and development center in the northern Coburg district of Bertelsdorf .
