Carl Krone
Carl Krone (born October 21, 1870 in Osnabrück , † June 4, 1943 in Salzburg ) was a German circus director from the second generation of the well-known Krone dynasty and founder of the Circus Krone . His great-grandfather was the magician Philadelphicus .
Life
From childhood on, Krone appeared in the Menagerie Continental , the wandering collection of animals belonging to his father Karl Krone, at German fairs. In 1888 he showed his animal training for the first time under the name "Monsieur Charles"; In 1893 he achieved a sensation with the demonstration of a lion riding a horse. After the death of his father in 1900, Krone took over the management of the company, which he renamed Circus Charles on May 28, 1905 and Circus Krone in 1913 .
Together with his sisters and his wife Ida († 1957), a daughter of the showman Ahlers, he expanded the circus into one of the largest of its kind in Europe . The three-ring principle, which Krone took over from the USA , could not prevail in Germany . The circus, which has had a permanent structure on the Munich Marsfeld since 1919 (new building in 1962), bridged the period of the global economic crisis with tours through Italy , Spain , France , Austria , Hungary and Switzerland . In 1932 he bought the Kronepark .
The Krone Circus was later continued by Krones' daughter Frieda Sembach-Krone (1915–1995) and her husband, the trainer Carl Sembach (1908–1984).
literature
Carl Krone published his memoirs in 1932 under the title Mein Leben .
