Karl Ludwig Blum (born July 25, 1796 in Hanau , † June 28, 1869 in Heidelberg ) was a German historian and professor of geography and statistics .

Life

Blum received his doctorate on Greek history and was appointed professor of geography and statistical science at the Russian University of Dorpat (today: Tartu in Estonia) in 1826 , where he worked for over 25 years. He was u. a. Co-founder of the "Dorpater Yearbooks for Literature, Statistics and Art, especially Russia", published from 1833 to 1836.

Karl Ludwig Blum was buried in the Heidelberg Bergfriedhof .

His work on the life of Count Jacob Johann von Siever , for which he was able to evaluate sources at Fickel Castle (today: Vigala ), no longer preserved today , also became particularly well known .
