Carl Pfeiffer (born February 17, 1844 in Cassel ; † October 17, 1912 there ) was a German banker who also served as chairman of the Kassel Chamber of Commerce .

Carl Pfeiffer was the son of the banker Louis Pfeiffer . After completing his training, he and his brother August Ludwig Pfeiffer joined his father's bank L. Pfeiffer as a partner in the early 1870s . With the death of his father and brother (both died in 1892) he became sole director. The banking house flourished during this time. In addition to the head office in Kassel, deposit kiosks were opened in Fulda , Hersfeld and Wildungen as well as agencies in Allendorf , Bebra , Großalmerode and Hünfeld . After Carl Pfeiffer's death in 1912, his nephew Karl Ludwig Pfeiffer took over the management of the bank.

At the end of 1879, Carl Pfeiffer was elected to the Cassel Chamber of Commerce and took over his father's seat on January 1, 1880. On January 1, 1887, he became deputy chairman of the chamber and, at the end of 1891, chairman - an office that his father had held before him. He served as Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce for 20 years. The highlight of his work was the inauguration of the new chamber building on Hohenzollernstrasse on March 18, 1900. In 1912 he resigned from the office of president and Otto Vogt became chairman of the chamber.

Honors

Carl Pfeiffer was appointed to the Commerce Council in 1894 and to the Secret Commerce Council in 1903 . He was a long-time member of the Kassel city ​​council and most recently chaired this body. The city of Kassel granted him honorary citizenship in 1912 .
