Carl Reinhard (politician)

Carl Reinhard (born November 17, 1909 in Meiningen ; † February 13, 1992 in Bad Hersfeld ) was a German farmer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Reinhard was born the son of a farmer. After graduating from high school in Hersfeld in 1928, he first completed an agricultural apprenticeship and then began studying agriculture at the universities in Göttingen and Berlin , which he completed in 1933 with an examination to become a qualified farmer and in 1934 with a doctorate in agriculture . Then he worked as a practical farmer. From 1939 to 1942 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , most recently as a lieutenant in the reserve.

Reinhard took over the management of his parents' farm in Unterweiseborn in 1943 . He was a recognized agricultural expert as well as a board member of the district farmers' association Hersfeld and several agricultural organizations. Since 1954 he also worked as a judge at the Regional Social Court in Darmstadt . He also acted as chairman of the committee for health issues of the German Farmers' Association (DBV).

Political party

Reinhard joined the CDU in 1956 and was chairman of the CDU district association Bad Hersfeld from 1961 to 1971. He was also a member of the Federal Agricultural Committee of the Christian Democrats.

MP

Reinhard had been a member of the Hersfeld district council since 1960 . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1957 to 1972 (in the third electoral period (1957–1961) he represented the constituency of Hersfeld in parliament ; in the four remaining electoral periods he moved into the Bundestag via the state list of Hesse ).

He was MP in the 3rd to 7th electoral term (3rd electoral term ( list of MPs ) = Adenauer III cabinet , 4th election period ( list of MPs ) = Adenauer IV cabinet , 5th election period ( list ) = Adenauer V cabinet ; Erhard I (1963-1965) , Erhard II 1965-66 , Kiesinger (until October 1969) , Brandt I (until 1972) ).
