Carl Steueragel

Carl Steueragel , also Karlsteueragel , (born March 21, 1848 in Biedenkopf ; † February 6, 1919 in Cologne ; full name: Carl Wilhelm Johannsteueragel ), was a German civil engineer and construction official who worked primarily as Cologne city planning officer.

Life

In the winter semester of 1864/65, while studying, he became a member of the Alemannia Gießen fraternity . After his studies and exams, he first worked in the city administration of Mainz before he accepted a position as a city ​​engineer in Barmen in 1880 . However, he gave up this position after about a year to move to Cologne as an employee and deputy of Josef Stübben .

From 1881 he dealt with the problems of Cologne city drainage and developed for Stübben's plans for Cologne city expansion the continuation of the old town drainage with the new construction of the drainage system for Cologne's Neustadt district. The most impressive building in the context of these facilities is the chandelier hall, completed in 1890, in the Cologne sewer system .

In addition to the sewer system, control nails were also responsible for road construction tasks. In addition, he conducted archaeological research in the civil engineering work he led and published the results in specialist journals.
