Carl Unger (born August 24, 1915 in Wolframitzkirchen near Znaim , † December 21, 1995 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter.

Unger studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts from 1935 to 1939 with Herbert Boeckl , whose daughter Maria he married in 1943. In 1947 Unger was one of the founding members of the Art Club Vienna. Stylistically, he developed from Expressionism through a Cubist phase to abstraction. His work includes landscapes, figurines, watercolors and drawings. In 1950 he took over the management of a class for the study of the human figure at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 1954 Unger took part in the Venice Biennale , from 1971–75 he was rector of the “Angewandte”. He was buried at the Hietzingen cemetery .
