Carl A. Zurburg , later Zurburg-Geisser (born January 19, 1859 in Bad Ragaz , † November 12, 1928 in Altstätten , legal resident in Balgach ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician .

biography

The son of a pharmacist studied in Tübingen , Zurich and Basel law . In Tübingen he renounced in the winter semester 1878/1879 with the student union Landsmannschaft Scotland . In 1885 Zurburg settled in Altstätten as a lawyer. From 1902 he was a member and from 1909 to 1925 President of the Court of Cassation. From 1911 to 1928 he was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Altstätten-Gais-Bahn .

Zurburg was a Catholic-Conservative member of the St. Gallen Cantonal Council from 1891 to 1915 . After the parliamentary elections in 1905 , he was a member of the National Council until 1925 . Carl Zurburg campaigned, among other things, for the federal law on hunting and bird protection, the federal certificate of competence for lawyers and matters relating to the Rhine Valley . In 1919/1920 he advocated the connection of Vorarlberg to Switzerland.
