Carlo Maria Polvani

Carlo Maria Polvani (born July 28, 1965 in Milan , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and associate undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for Culture .

Life

Carlo Maria Polvani attended the Istituto Leone XIII in Milan and the Collège Stanislas in Montreal . He then studied biochemistry at McGill University in Montreal, where he in 1985 the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) acquired in 1990 and his doctorate ( Ph.D. ) was. 1993 closed Polvani at the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge , Massachusetts , the study of Catholic theology with the Master of Divinity he acquired, and in 1996 at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , the licentiate in professional Canon Law . Polvani received on 14 February 1998, the sacrament of Holy Orders . He then attended the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy . In July 1999 Carlo Maria Polvani joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See and was posted to the Apostolic Nunciature in Mexico . From 2001 he was in the Vatican State Secretariat as head of the offices for information and technology and as representative of the Holy See on the Government Advisory Committee of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number (ICANN). In 2013 he received the honorary title of Pontifical Honorary Prelate . In 2015 Polvani also became a member of the Commission for Reforming the Vatican Media.

On July 26, 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Assistant Under-Secretary of the Pontifical Council for Culture.
