Carlo Maria Sacripante , also Carlo Maria Sacripanti , (born September 11, 1689 in Rome , † November 4, 1758 in Narni ) was a cardinal of the Roman Church and bishop of the suburbicarian diocese of Frascati .

Life

As the son of Filippo Sacripante († April 1714) and Vincenza Maria Vituzzi and as the nephew of Cardinal Giuseppe Sacripante, he came from a patrician family from Narni. He went through his training and first ecclesiastical offices with his father, who was a consistorial lawyer. After the death of his father he became a fiscal advocate of the Roman Church.

On September 30, 1739 he was, although he had not yet received an ordination , by Pope Clement XII. created cardinal, the Pope dispensed Sacripante on October 2nd of the same year from the need to receive ordination. He received the cardinal's hat and the title deaconry Santa Maria in Aquiro on November 16, 1739. Sacripante participated in the 1740 conclave , which Benedict XIV elected as the new pontiff. On May 29, 1741, his title deaconry changed to Santa Maria in Portico Campitelli . The cardinal was born on May 13, 1742 to sub-deacon , and two days later a deacon ordained, prompting him the title Diakonie on April 10, 1747 Santa Maria ad Martyrs was assigned.

The ordination received Sacripante end of December 1750 or early January 1751, his first Mass he celebrated on January 6, 1751. His titular church as cardinal priest was from February 1, 1751 Sant'Anastasia al Palatino .

On January 12, 1756, Pope Benedict XIV elevated him to Cardinal Bishop of Frascati . He was ordained episcopate on January 25th of the same year by Cardinal Giovanni Antonio Guadagni , co-consecrators were Archbishop Nicolò Lercari and Bishop Giovanni Battista Giampè . Carlo Maria Sacripante took part in the conclave in 1758 , but was dissatisfied with the election of Clement XIII. , resigned and retired to Narni, where he died shortly afterwards.

His grave is in a family crypt in Narni Cathedral.
