Carlos Prieto Martos (born February 2, 1980 in Mérida , Spain ) is a former Spanish handball player who played 96 times for the Spanish national team.

Career

The pivot player played before his move to Bergisch HC the Slovenian club RK Celje . There he moved from the Rhein-Neckar Löwen . Before that he played for FC Barcelona , BM Gáldar , BM Ciudad Real and BM Valladolid .

From July 2012 Prieto was under contract with the Danish club AG København . Since AGK filed for bankruptcy in the same month, his contract was terminated. In August 2012 he joined the Kadetten Schaffhausen. After the 2012/13 season, his contract was not extended. After Prieto was without a club, he signed a contract with HSG Wetzlar in October 2013. In January 2014 he extended his contract until 2016. In November 2015, HSG Wetzlar announced that this contract would not be extended beyond that. After Prieto ended his professional career in the summer of 2016, he played for the Hessian national league club HSG Lollar / Ruttershausen in the 2017/18 season.

After being out of a club since summer 2018, the now 39-year-old returned to the handball stage in March 2019. Until the end of the 2018/19 season he was under contract with the German second division TV Hüttenberg and made his comeback there on March 30 against ASV Hamm-Westfalen. Then he ended his career in professional handball again. In August 2019, however, he was reactivated by the New York City THC to play at the IHF Super Globe 2019 . Carlos Prieto has been playing for the Bayern league club TSV 1846 Lohr since August 2019 .

Prieto was in Spain's expanded squad for the 2011 World Cup ; By September 2017, he played 96 international matches , in which he scored 111 goals.
