Carlos Varas Martínez (born September 14, 1970 in Santiago de Chile ) is a former Chilean biathlete .

Carlos Varas competed in his first international top races at the start of the 2000/2001 season at World Cups that were held in Hochfilzen and Antholz . In his first race, an individual, he finished 111th out of 112 starters. Towards the end of the season he was able to achieve his best World Cup result in Salt Lake City with a 90th place in an individual. The highlight of the season was participation in the 2001 Military World Ski Championships in Jericho , where the Chilean was 76th in the sprint. The 2001/02 season was Varas' second and last international season, which was crowned with the career highlight, the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. In addition to Claudia Barrenechea, Varas was the first Chilean among women to take part in Olympic biathlon competitions. So far he is also the only male Olympic biathlete from Chile, alongside Marco Zúñiga . At the competitions in Soldier Hollow , he was 86th in both individual and sprint, and thus last.
