Carolina la O (born April 12, 1979 in Manizales , province of Caldas ), real name Carolina Ovalle Arango , is a Colombian singer and actress , who with hits like "El Último Beso", "Dulce Veneno", "Yo soy la Rumba ”And” Candela Pura ”became known.

Life

Carolina la O began singing the theme "Campesina Santandera" at the age of six in her elementary school, which marked her later musical career. In the late 1990s, Carolina la O joined the salsa and cumbia band Alquimia la Sonora del XXI, which played songs by the group Sonora Matancera . Carolina was able to prove her singing talent and quickly became a crowd favorite. In 1998 she sang at a major event at the Copacabana Club in New York , which also featured stars like Celia Cruz . In 1999 her first solo album "El Son de Ahora" came out. In 2001 her album "Dulce Veneno" was released, in which she processed different styles such as ranchera, ballad and salsa romántica. The single Dulce Veneno became a huge hit in Colombia. Warner Music called her one of the best artists in her genre. She performed at the Carnaval de Barranquilla and the Feria de Cali , among others . After she became internationally known, she had further appearances at the Carnaval de la Calle 8 in Miami and the Festival Latino in Toronto, Canada . Her third album "Carolina" was produced by Kike Santander . In 2003 the singer received an advertising contract as a Latin Image from the Anheuser-Busch brewery. In 2004 she starred in the Colombian TV reality show Protagonistas de la Fama on the Telemundo channel. For the album "De mi Fuego" she gave herself a new sensual and fresh image and recorded songs of the styles Caribbean Colombian and Tropical Music. Her 2009 album Reencuentro Con los Gemelos, along with the music of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra , Bobby Valentín and Oscar D'León, has been described as defining the style.
