Caroline Weihrauch (born November 24, 1961 in Hamburg ) is a German painter.

life and work

Weihrauch studied at the Berlin University of the Arts with Wolfgang Petrick and Hans-Jürgen Diehl .

Among other things, she paints large-format flower paintings. Her colorful painting can be assigned to a "living continuation" of a creative, expressive realism . But the pictures also show expressionist style. A closeness to the Belle Epoque , Max Liebermann , Pop Art and David Hockney can be seen in her interiors , her pictures of flowers and landscapes . The beauty of the moment is frozen and thus withdrawn from temporality. Weihrauch herself speaks of her paintings as a "declaration of love for the beauty of things, of life".

She also became known for her pictures of the Paris Bar in Berlin. The pictures capture the moment before the onslaught of the guests and are described as atmospherically dense. As a student, Weihrauch longed for the tables in this bar herself. As a painter, she became, in a way, her chronicler. Among other things, Weihrauch exhibited in the Haubrok Collection and with Andy Hope 1930 , Jonathan Meese and many other artists.

She is the chairwoman of the Berlin-Klondyke eV art association .
