Carolyne Mas (born on October 20, 1955 in New York as Carol Patricia Mas) is an American singer-songwriter who works in rock . She produces, composes, sings and plays guitar and piano .

life and career

Mas is the daughter of Livia and Joseph Mas. Her mother was Miss Puerto Rico and a medical student, her father - at first an opera singer - became known as the inventor of a battery charger . After touring numerous clubs such as New York's CBGB and pubs in Greenwich Village , Carolyne Mas had a hit in the 1980s with the approximately 15 to 20-minute live track Sittin 'in the Dark , depending on the mood of her band . From 1989 to 1993 Mas lived in Germany.

The musician is rather unknown in the USA ; it is more popular in Canada and Europe . Mas' musicians included Ivan Elias ( bass ), Bobby Chouinard ( drums ) and Charlie Giordano ( keyboards ).

In 1980 the live record Mas Hysteria was released; In a blank LP sleeve with an amateur cover stuck on, it was reminiscent of a bootleg and sold a quarter of a million copies in Germany.

Carolyne Mas is stylistically in the tradition of musicians Chrissie Hynde from the Pretenders or Patti Smith . Her European tour announced for 2013 has been partially canceled for health reasons. The musician sells new and old recordings on her website.
