Carson City is a small city in Montcalm County in the US state of Michigan . The population was 1,190 people in the 2000 census . Carson City was registered as a village in 1887, and as a town in 1960.

Demographics
According to the 2000 census , Carson City had 1,190 people in 496 households, including 312 families. The population density was 1,671 per km² . 532 residential units were recorded. The population was 95.0% White, 0.5% African , 0.2% Native American , 0.4% Asian, and 2.1% Other; 1.9% came from mixed marriages. Hispanics or Latinos made up 4.5% of the population.
Of 496 households, 32.5% had no children under the age of 18, 44.6% were married couples living together, 13.1% had a female head of the household without a husband, and 36.9% were non-families. 32.3% of all households were inhabited by single people, 15.7% of whom were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 people and the average family size was 3.01 people.
The city had 28.4% of people under the age of 18, 7.9% 18 to 24, 27.1% 25 to 44, 21.4% 45 to 64, and 15.1% were 65 years or older . The median age was 36 years. For every 100 female residents there were 82 male residents. For every 100 female residents over 18 years of age, there were 75.3 males over 18 years of age.
