Caspar Henselmann
Caspar Henselmann (* 1933 in Mannheim ) is a German-American sculptor and illustrator .
Life and family
Caspar Henselmann, grandson of the German church painter Fidelius Henselmann , son of the sculptor Albert Henselmann (1890–1974) and nephew of the painters Gustav (1888–1964) and Willy Henselmann (1896–1973), grew up in the Swiss canton of Ticino , wherever his father went “ Degenerate artist ” had emigrated with his family during the Nazi era . In Minusio , Henselmann attended the Benedictine high school. In 1950, the family immigrated to the United States where they are in Chicago ( Illinois settled). There he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree . At the University of Illinois , he also received a diploma in medical illustration from the College of Medicine . When he was in Detroit ( Michigan worked), he turned to sculpture. He has lived and worked in New York since the 1960s .

In addition to illustrations for medical literature and artistic drawings and objects, often made of cardboard, he creates abstract sculptures made of steel, which are represented in many European and US museums, in sculpture parks and in many non -museum locations.
