Caspar de Gelmini

Caspar de Gelmini (* 1980 in Berlin ) is a German-Italian composer and music researcher.

Life

Gelmini studied composition at the Kreuzberg Music School (now Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg ) and was an intern at the Deutsche Oper Berlin . He then studied composition and theory at the music academies in Rostock (Rostock University of Music and Theater ), Weimar ( Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar ), Stockholm ( Royal University of Music Stockholm ), Basel ( Basel Music Academy ), Salzburg ( Mozarteum ), Stuttgart ( University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart ) and Paris ( IRCAM ) and ( Paris Conservatory ). Since 2017 he has been doing his doctorate atUniversity of the Arts Berlin . His teachers are and were: Helmut Zapf , Peter Manfred Wolf , Michael Obst , Annette Schlünz , Pär Lindgren, Georg Friedrich Haas , Michel Roth , Tristan Murail , Marco Stroppa , Frédéric Durieux and Hèctor Parra. He attended composition courses in Darmstadt (holiday courses), Donaueschingen (Next Generation), Graz (Impuls), Paris (IRCAM) and Strasbourg (Musica) with Helmut Lachenmann , Mauricio Kagel , Dieter Schnebel , Philippe Manoury and others. Since 2010 he has been working on radio plays with the author Jan Decker : Japanische Miniatures (2012) and Leipzig Noir 1914 (2014).

Gelmini received prizes at the composition competitions of the Weimar Spring Days for contemporary music (chamber music, 2007), the Musica Viva (Munich) for orchestral music (2008 and 2010) and at the Reading Panel of the IRCAM / Center Pompidou Paris (Manifeste 2012, Cursus 2014, Forum Event 2020). There he worked with Lucas Vis and Lothar Zagrosek . He was a scholarship holder of the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service and the German National Academic Foundation. Caspar de Gelmini has written compositions for various instruments and line-ups. Portraits and factory broadcasts were u. a. in ARD Alpha, Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandradio Kultur, Bayern Klassik, MDR Figaro, Radio Ö1, Saarländischer Rundfunk and SWR.

He also works in the field of sound art. His video works were among others. shown and awarded in Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, England, Spain, Greece, Poland, Switzerland, France and the USA.
