Musica Viva (Munich)

The Musica Viva is a Munich concert series for new music . It was founded in 1945 by Karl Amadeus Hartmann . It has been organized by the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation since 1948 . In addition to choir and orchestral concerts that take place in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residence , the program includes multimedia events and studio concerts (previously designed by Josef Anton Riedl ) in the Muffathalle , in Munich's churches, in the Marstalltheater and in the Gasteig cultural and educational center .

Alongside the Donaueschingen Music Days , the summer courses in Darmstadt and the Witten Days for Contemporary Music, it is considered to be the most important concert series in contemporary music with a focus on orchestral music.
