The Cataract River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of New South Wales .

geography

The river rises on the eastern slopes of the Great Dividing Range , about six kilometers northeast of Red Hill and about ten kilometers southeast of Tenterfield . From its source in the Local Government Area Tenterfield Shire , it flows northeast, where it flows into the Clarence River at Paddys Flat .

Shortly before it flows into the Clarence River, the river flows through the eastern part of the Cataract National Park .
