The Guy Fawkes River is a river in the northeast of the Australian state of New South Wales . The river flows through the national park of the same name from south to north along the Demon Fault Line .
Surname
The river is named after the English officer Guy Fawkes . With John Oxley's expedition , the first Europeans visited the river and apparently camped on its banks on Guy Fawkes Day (November 5, 1821).
geography
The river rises on the southern slopes of Majors Point in the Snowy Range , an eastern chain of the Great Dividing Range , around eight kilometers east of the small town of Ebor on the Waterfall Way (connecting road Armidale - Coffs Harbor ). Some of the tributaries of the Guy Fawkes River have their source on the slopes of Round Mountain , the tallest mountain in the northern table country of New South Wales. The river then pours over Ebor Falls into a deep valley that runs north through the national park. It is one of the headwaters of the Boyd River , to which it unites together with the Sara River in the center of the national park.
