Catfish - Verliebte im Netz is an American reality show about online dating based on the documentary Catfish by Ariel Schulman. Nev Schulman act as moderators and Max Joseph up to the seventh season , replaced by Kamie Crawford from the eighth. The series premiered on November 12, 2012 on MTV . The series has been broadcast in Germany since February 20, 2013. In season 8, Max explains that he will no longer moderate and that Nev will work with guest moderators in the future.

A so-called "catfish" is a person who pretends to be someone else on the Internet. In the program, the two presenters Nev Schulman and Max Joseph visit the person who has fallen in love with a "catfish" or is already in a relationship with this person, but has never met. The moderators will be asked by these people for help to determine to what extent the online profile and the news are true and then to arrange a meeting.

Season 4

In the first five episodes of the fourth season, Max Joseph could not be seen because he was involved in the shooting of the feature film We Are Your Friends with Zac Efron during the production of the season . Nev Schulman is hosting these episodes with guest stars including Angel Haze , Cassidy Wolf , Charlamagne Tha God and Tyler Oakley .

Broadcasting and production

The twelve episodes of the first season were broadcast between November 12, 2012 and February 25, 2013. In December 2012, MTV ordered a second season of the series, the episodes of which were broadcast from June 25 to October 15, 2013. Ten days later, the series was extended for a third season. This season was broadcast from May 7th to July 9th, 2014. Two days later, it was extended for a fourth season. The fifth season ran between February and September 2016 and the sixth between March and September 2017.

In Germany, MTV aired the first season between February 20 and May 5, 2013. The second season followed from August 25, 2013 to March 13, 2014. The third season was broadcast between August 31 and November 9, 2014. The specials Untold Stories and Aftershow 301 were broadcast on August 24, 2013. The series was also broadcast on VIVA and nicknight .

synchronization

The original sound is retained for all episodes, but speakers translated what was said into German. The German dubbing was created for the first season by the dubbing company Studio Hamburg Synchron GmbH , and since the second season this has been done by VSI Synchron GmbH . The first season was created under the dialogue director of Marion von Stengel , since the second season is for dialogue director Jörg Heybrock responsible.
