Cecil Green (born September 30, 1919 in Dallas , Texas , † July 29, 1951 in Winchester , Indiana ) was an American racing car driver .

Career

Green won numerous races and titles in midget cars between 1948 and 1950 . After that he mainly competed in races for the AAA National Series. he achieved his best result in Milwaukee in 1951 as second in a Kurtis Kraft - Offenhauser .

He started twice in his career at the Indianapolis 500 , when he first started in 1951 on a Kurtis-Kraft-3000-Offenhauser, one lap behind the winner Johnnie Parsons, he finished fourth. 1951 again on a Kurtis-Kraft-3000-Offenhauser, he retired on lap 80 with an engine failure. Since the race between 1950 and 1960 was also classified as a Formula 1 world championship run , two Grand Prix starts are also included in his success statistics.

He died in a training accident at Winchester Speedway .
