history

Traces point to the local presence of Romans after their conquest of the region in the 2nd century BC. Chr.

The current place was probably created during the medieval Reconquista . Celavisa received its first town charter in 1217.

It remained the seat of its own district until the administrative reforms after the liberal Miguelistenkrieg in 1834. Thereafter, the Celavisa district was dissolved in 1836 and Arganil was incorporated.

In 1932 the first primary school was opened in Celavisa, and in 1936 the place received electric light.

Celavisa is the seat of a parish of the same name ( Freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Arganil in the Coimbra district . 182 inhabitants live here on an area of ​​15 km² (as of June 30, 2011).
