Celestina Casapietra

Celestina Casapietra (born August 23, 1939 in Genoa ) is an Italian opera singer ( soprano ). It was at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin for Kammersängerin appointed.

Life

After her debut in Milan in 1963, Casapietra was the first soprano at the Berlin State Opera from 1965 to 1993 . In addition, she performed a. a. at the Milan Scala , the Vienna State Opera , the Teatro Carlo Felice Genua , the Bavarian State Opera , the Hamburg State Opera , the Bolshoi Theater Moscow and at the Salzburg Festival .

The Berlin bass-baritone Marek Kalbus is one of her best-known students .

Casapietra got to know the conductor Herbert Kegel , at that time head of the Leipzig Radio Choir and later chief conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic , left Italy in 1966 because of him and they both married. When she was eight months pregnant, she flew to Genoa so that her son Björn Casapietra would not be born as a GDR citizen with all the limitations of freedom of movement. In 1983 the marriage was divorced.

Celestina Casapietra was appointed a full honorary member of the European Cultural Workshop (EKW) Berlin-Vienna for her artistic life achievement in 2018.

She also took part in the DEFA opera film Gala Unter den Linden (GDR, 1977) and played the role of singing teacher in Arnaud des Pallières ' film Drancy Avenir (1997).
